An emotionally exhausted nurse revisits the comforts of childhood when she hires a babysitter to take care of her for the evening. Isabel Pask directs “Goodnight,” a weighty drama about a hospice worker looking for relief. After an intense day on the job, Daria returns to her New York City apartment and finds a young woman, Max, waiting for her. The nature of their relationship is gradually revealed: Max bargains with Daria as she would a child, making her choose between chocolate milk now or ice cream later. Afterwards, Max gives Daria a bath before initiating some improvisational play time. Just as Daria begins to loosen up, a minor incident threatens to send her back to reality. Striking in concept and tone, the film is carried by the nuanced performances of its lead actors, Dagmara Domińcyzk and Annie Fox. -KA. Director: Isabel Pask. Writers: Isabel Pask, Annie Fox.
