An exploration of the "man on the street" interview industry through the POV of an editor. Andrew Bourne directs “Man on the Street,” a satire putting short form content, and its creators, into bleak perspective. We open to a series of short-form spoofs scrolling one after the other. Names include “Bodega Bugs,” “Sidewalk Sommelier,” “Sexy Street,” and more. Following a shoot in Washington Square Park, Daniel, a videographer played by Bourne himself, makes small talk with his boss. “You were great today,” the content creator says, “you used to be a filmmaker, right?” The young man gets an invitation to an industry sponsored event, but he declines, woefully walking home and to a hangout later that night, surrounded by nothing but swiping screens and iPhone faces. The sketch, less than four minutes, delivers on the antisocial-social realities of NYC living, featuring apt usage of LCD Soundsystem’s “New York, I Love You But You're Bringing Me Down.” -JM.
