During an unplanned night out in Berlin, Esra is haunted by memories of a former best friend. Rari Matei’s “Oizys” offers an experiential evening and morning after through the psyche of a troubled individual surrounded by sound. Esra dances to a high BPM in the club. Between stepping off and back onto the floor, we overhear blasé chatter between twenty-somethings about upcoming moves to different cities and art schools. Drunken to the noise, Esra vomits, turns away creeps, and manages to waddle out into the Berlin streets. A funeral the next day calls for Esra to make some remarks, which they have nothing prepared for but tears. Later that night, a memory emerges. At a 20-minute runtime, the film moves at its own speed, allowing us to quietly observe Esra’s mourning and maneuvering through the stages of grief. -JM. Director: Rari Matei. Cast: Eren M.
