A non-binary sex worker in their mid-20s navigates the complexities of their social milieu during a summer weekend in New York City. Lily Lady directs and stars in “Sam’s World,” a narrative feature that launches our month of titles from the esteemed indie distributor, Factory 25. Sam leaves a luxury condo and sits on a bench, changing out of black lace and heels to slip-on vans and a loose t-shirt, then returning to their apartment where Rex (their partner) warmly awaits. While taking a bath, a queasiness rumbles, and later that afternoon at lunch with friends, Sam decides to take a pregnancy test — they keep the results private. The film delivers rawness in its low-key glimpse brimming with sharp dialogue and candid observations. -JM. Written and Directed by Lily Lady. Produced by Dan Lalor. Cinematography by Matt Harvey.
