A young woman makes a documentary about her affair with an older filmmaker. Shae Sennett directs “The Honest Movie,” a docu-fictional satire driven by self-absorbed creatives and their snappy exchanges. Finch and her friend, Agnes, watch TikToks while talking about filmmaking pursuits. Finch finally decides she wants to make “the honest movie,” defending it as a “high-brow” experimental doc. Ben, her boyfriend, comes over, Agnes leaves, and a quietly positioned camera records. Finch explains to Ben that she recently cheated on him with an older filmmaker named Randal; later that evening, Finch and Randall get together. Captured in naturalistic points of view, Sennett arranges a confident consideration of self-reflective filmmaking and its contradictory nature -JM. Director: Shae Sennett.
