An off-put man tries to make a heartfelt toast for his brother's baby shower but, instead, he completely unravels. Victor Tadashi Suarez and Max Azulay direct “Uncle Morris,” a dark comedy where cultish LA family rituals and a tiny crown of destiny are revealed through a confession. Doug and Trish are celebrating their child’s baby shower. When Doug asks his brother, Morris, to make some remarks, Morris struggles, going off tangent about accidentally hitting a squirrel on his way to the get-together. Others take their turn to share their gifts and toasts, but Morris has to get the truth off his chest. The film, with staggered lines between Azulay, Burgess and other familiar faces, maintains comedy and whimsicalness even as it walks into stranger territory. -JM. Director: Victor Tadashi Suarez and Max Azulay. Cast: Max Azulay, Colin Burgess, Kate Adams, Livia Albeck-Ripka, Rosie DuPont, Gabe Abano, Amanda Abano. Composer: Zach Robinson.
