A young woman kills the vibe when she confronts her ex-boyfriend at a party. Michael Calciano directs “But He’s Gay,” a biting comedy about an unraveling social kerfuffle. Maeve arrives to a party eager to make the rounds but everyone is uncomfortable with her presence; eyebrows raise, heads turn. Her ex-boyfriend, Will, is there, joined by his new boyfriend. When an opportunity to toast presents itself, Maeve takes advantage. What follows is a heated exchange between her and the others, where Will’s sexuality is scrutinized and the group’s exclusion of Maeve is interrogated. An ensemble cast carries the load, led by Megan Kimberly Smith as Maeve, a passive aggressive saboteur. -JM. Director: Michael Calciano. DP/Editor: Nick Beardslee. Producer: Olivia Mastrangelo.
