A close friendship goes through a harrowing trial when one of them lays an egg. Stephanie Ibarra directs “Egg,” an absurdist comedy, remarkably lighthearted, that cleverly renders its outlandish concept on a small scale and naturalistic setting. While discussing dreams with her roommate, James, Anna stands up from her couch to discover a warm egg has appeared underneath her. After some confusion, she realizes it is hers. From here, we track a series of logical steps: who is the father of the egg? Will they keep the egg? What do their friends think about the egg? Can Anna and James’ friendship survive the period of incubation? Written by and starring Anna Torzullo (she stars alongside James Cribbins), the film twists tropes into parody and always maintains a strange charm with its performers' natural chemistry and comic timing. -KA.
