A film about being on the phone. Bobby McCoy directs “Excuse Me, I’m On The Phone,” a high-tempo game of hot potato between erratic youngsters and their cellular crises. It all starts with a young lady seated outside an Erewhon grocery store. She speaks to someone on the phone, distressed about her recent struggles working as a canvasser. Moments later and back on the job, she tries to stop a man on the street; he crashes out on her. He's on his own call with the daughter of a man who owes him money for a high school sports bet. One call takes us to the next: a rich girl deals with her cat who swallowed an Elf Bar, a veterinarian demands his wife cancel their credit cards, and a mother sobs in front of her babysitter. In the fifth film of his we’ve featured, McCoy flexes an ever-evolving microbudget mastery, capturing frantic Zoomers on L.A. street corners through a telephoto view. -JM. Director: Bobby McCoy. DP: Michael Santos. Cast: Gabby Sones, John Pelech, Lena Redford, Roger Hayn, Kati Skelton, Lucy Parks Urbano, Ivan Fraser.
