A box-office clerk is forced to deal with a hot-tempered patron. David Cardoza’s “Life in the Cage” is a comedic vignette capturing a confrontation outside of a movie theater. Behind the glass, a box-office attendant reads a comic as a frantic movie-goer rushes to the window. The man, increasingly irate, tells our clerk that his wife is already in the cinema with his ticket. He demands to be allowed to enter despite theater policy. Our attendant holds his ground, prompting him with mental quizzes and suspicion, but the abrasiveness of the dissatisfied customer wears and tears. At under five minutes, the film is an idiosyncratic snapshot featuring Cardoza’s real-life comic magazine “Cashiers du Cinema.” We previously featured Cardoza in 2023 with “The Christmas Kid,” also starring Bill Heidbreder. -JM. Director: David Cardoza. Cast: Bill Heidbreder, Johnny Zito, Shane Fleming. Producer: Daniel Welch. Editor: David Cardoza.
