Careening through a day in the life of a high schooler, a teenager and his friends experiment with a mysterious drug-like substance. Mitchell Clark directs “Plastic Glass,” a coming-of-age mood piece set in New York City, unique in its depiction of substance use and high school malaise. On a snow-covered school yard, Sonny brawls with a classmate; he loses. He and his friends lurk through the campus between blocks, talking shit and passing the time. During the middle of a class, Sonny extends his palm outward, sensing an invisible force. Though it remains unclear what they’re experimenting with or why, an uncanny tension compels. Clark’s vision feels assured, further realized with stand-out cinematography and score. -JM. Director: Mitchell Clark.
