A young woman descends into madness when her girlfriend, a sex worker, becomes entangled with the wealthy patron funding their life. Mia Daniela Alejo directs “Teeth of Fawn,” a relationship drama confined to a grimy motel room exploring a young woman’s fragile psyche. As Laura attends to one of her clients, Bea is left to wait alone, counting the minutes and hours, as they gruelingly tick away. The thought of her girlfriend with someone else induces nausea, halting any tender thought of the two being together. When Laura returns, Bea’s desperation takes an extreme hold. Alejo makes the most of the single location, expanding our look into Bea’s spiraling headspace through dramatic lighting choices and a surreal intimate sequence. -JM.
