Documented through the lens of his best friend’s DV camera, a skater grapples with life and mental health in the interior and exterior. Rhordi Beynon’s “Ender” is a lo-fi snapshot taking place in the UK depicting the highs and lows of two friends in their lingering youth. After some skating, the friends take a train back to one of their parents’ homes where they loudly hang in the kitchen until a parental figure is disturbed in their sleep. Later, we return to skateboarding. Skin is scathed as a difficult trick is attempted multiple times. With a docu-fictional approach, the film exists as a feeling of snippets from a single, continuously-flowing tape. Throughout, there’s a feeling of rawness and warm textures of candid memories. -JM. Director + Writer: Rhodri Beynon. Producer: Matan Hamam. DP: Rhodri Beynon. Cast: Patrick Coghlan, Rhodri Beynon, Ty Knox, Rob Beynon, Ed Pettey, Theo Ray. Music: Zach Galsky.
