Two twenty-somethings travel to Paris so that one of them can connect with an Instagram boyfriend. Theo Matza directs “Faux Amis” (Fake Friends), a travel comedy brimming with outlandish behavior and unnerving developments. Adele and her friend May, who she treats more like an assistant, depart from New York to meet Jacque. They touch down in the City of Light, and, almost immediately, things take a dark turn. They are mugged on the street and forced to divert their plan. By the time they reach Jacque’s apartment, all bets are off. The third short of his we’ve featured, Matza continues honing a distinct voice in dark comedy, interested in claustrophobia and unpredictable outbursts. -JM. Director, Editor: Theo Matza.
