The DOJ gives a boy bad news, and a choice. Luke Strickler’s “My Brief Conversation with the Department Of Justice” comedically examines a teenager’s train of thought upon receiving the news that he’s been photoshopped by a pedophile. In a Spongebob t-shirt, he paces in front of his suburban home while on the phone with the DOJ. Intermittently putting him on hold, the feds let him know that a previous school teacher had photoshopped not just Luke’s face, but 135 others, into pornographic content. Serving as mere messengers of the news, they don’t have much to say to Luke, and neither does he. Like in his previous shorts (link below), Strickler offers plenty of humor and brevity in tackling a bleak and baffling reality. -JM. Director/Writer/Actor/Editor: Luke Strickler. DP: Josh Jason.
