Three siblings invite an Argentinian man to spend the day with them at their pool. “La Piscina” is a bawdy, off-the-wall farce by the Brooklyn comedy group, Simple Town. After convincing Tomas to stay the night in their pool house, they spend the next day drinking beers, playing with swords, and grilling out. But the two brothers and their sister aren’t your average friendly hosts — at every turn they make it weird, either by passionately slathering sun tan lotion over each other, or by dancing suggestively to bumping night club music. After Victor openly shares his inhibited thoughts on oral sex, he inquires of Tomas, “are there any specific cultural dynamics around eating pussy in Argentina?” Tomas struggles to find his footing around the strange behavior of the Americans, until he eventually sees a way to connect. We first featured Simple Town in 2019 with “Town Meeting,” where a group of peasants wandered around a field muttering redundantly. Last year, we featured their horror comedy, “Scary Car,” a brilliantly executed account of an unexplainable occurrence. We are happy to present their new wild ride as a NoBudge Original. -KA.
