The Love Spell
Love in Mind...and the title

Drama, Short Films, 05-Jun-2023
Working as a babysitter for a melodramatic family, a woman looks for alone time as she prepares a Venus ritual. Directed by Jane Stiles and Meryl Jones, “The Love Spell” is a character study shot on 16mm that places its lovelorn subject in a last-minute scheduling predicament. Tucker is forced to look after Sebastian in overtime after his mother schedules an impromptu date. Herself looking for love, Tucker struggles to maintain her objective for the evening — an Astrological ceremony aimed at “welcoming in my beloved.” This is the third short we’ve featured from Stiles and Jones who specialize in spontaneous New York City dramas that capture the complications and zig zags of city life. Stiles, always a captivating screen presence, plays the woman with natural intensity. -KA. Co-Directors: Jane Stiles & Meryl Jones. Writer: Jane Stiles.
