Set in India, six siblings navigate their day-to-day obstacles, endeavors, and social gymnastics. “It’s all In your Head,” a feature film directed by Dhruv Solanki, is a comedic slice-of-life offering a youthful perspective on a Northern India backdrop. JoJo, an aspiring photographer, makes her way to a job; Bonita sleeps in; Nisha models for a shoot; Jiya deals with the mundanities of her day job; Bhuvnesh anticipates his acceptance into a dance school in Dehli; and Deepshikha recounts a rough night on holiday with friends. While we bounce from moment to moment, conversations shift from Hindi to Rajasthani and Rajasthani to English. As it occurs, the personas and aspirations of these siblings remain clear, charming, and compelling. Not only is Solanki’s film a cohesive and contained celebration of micro-budget filmmaking and its sensibilities, it also offers charismatic performances from a cast of new faces. -JM.
