Drama, Short Films, 24-Sep-2024
A man in New York becomes obsessed with a girl he keeps seeing. “Nadja,” directed by Abe Dassa Kaye, is a moment-to-moment look at a young man’s brief episode of infatuation. Chatting over some drinks during the day, the young man tells his two friends about a recent romantic interest: there’s a woman he keeps noticing by his favorite Chinese restaurant. Days pass by, more run-ins occur, and he continues to share updates on the encounters with his buddies. Finally, he decides to take his encounters with the young woman a step further. All happening over the course of a rainy two weeks, soon enough, it ends. Built mostly in naturalistic wide shots, it’s an idiosyncratic portrait of fleeting desire and offline relationships. -JM. Director: Abe Dassa Kaye. Cast: Leila Dall'Olmo, Philippe Bethlem, Wilson Chestney, George Clarke. DP: Mir Mengi.
