Drama, Short Films, 21-Dec-2023
On the night of a sorority hazing event, a college freshman learns how far she's willing to go to impress an older girl. “Scotty’s Vag,” directed by Chaconne Martin-Berkowicz, is an unsettling, college-set drama that considers the pressure to impress, hazing-culture, and certain perceptions of virginity. While they get themselves ready in the communal bathroom of their dorm, Scotty, a freshman, and her roommate, Becca, anticipate the evening and their hope to impress one of their favorites amongst the “ΔΙ” sisterhood—Hunter. As the hazing begins, a competitive spirit between the two friends and other ‘rushees’ starts to boil. While jabs are thrown, Becca, in front of everyone, reveals that Scotty has never had sex. The evening comes to a close, and Hunter, intrigued by the new information, decides to see what boundaries can be pushed. With an unnerving amount of discomfort, Martin-Berkowicz offers a visceral up-front view of the behaviors and dynamics in an intense rite of passage. -JM. Director: Chaconne Martin-Berkowicz.
