In a world where words are indecipherable and conversations don’t make sense, Sydney works at a fast food restaurant called Awesome Burger. Made as a thesis project at VCUarts, “Awesome Burger,” directed by Will Barker, is a playfully lo-fi comedy about the baffling experience known as life. After a long day at work, Sydney tries to relax with some TV but just like everything else in the world, it’s gibberish. Soon she begins to find strange doors leading to unknown places, and a variety of experiences ranging from mysterious to joyful and back again. The name of the game here is absurdity and it’s carried out with youthful enthusiasm and charming feats of elaborate DIY production design. -KA. Directed by Will Barker. Starring Jessica Jaffe. Assistant Director: Paris Reinhard. Cinematographer: Amber Dawn. 1st Assistant Camera: Vic Lowry. Gaffer: Zephyr Sheedy. Production Design: Sydney Cordoba. Sound Recording: Katy Boling. Craft Services Brenna Davis. Production Assistant: Jarod Parry.
