A glance at the day-to-day happenings and peculiar inhabitants of a park in Russia. Zhenia Kazankina directs “Continuity of Parks,” a 16mm experimental piece shaping Greek mythological figures into everyday park-goers. Hecate looks for Cerberus after leaving it off-leash; the Moirae gossip while playing cards; Minotaur kisses a loved one, oblivious to the labyrinth. Filmed mostly static, Kazankina beautifully captures the activities of gods and heroes portrayed as normal bodies, prompting her audience to look at classical narratives with a fresh perspective. We previously featured Kazankina in 2021 with her stylish portrait of isolation, “Rio.” -Jinho Myung. Writer, Director: Zhenia Kazankina. Director of photography: Luda Kuropiatnikova.
