Two friends spend the day together, one is a floating orb. “Digital Fortune Teller,” directed by Cooper Vacheron, is a homemade sci-fi vignette that follows a human and a digital assistant through a typical day in L.A. Tracking their exercise routines, water intake, general health and well-being, the virtual companion and close friend go hiking, lie in bed watching basketball, and converse freely about all manner of topics. Except there are moments when the orb’s satellite service cuts out and the companion disappears, and you begin to feel the vulnerability of the relationship. We’ve featured Vacheron twice previously with “Psychopomp” (2016) and “enjoy your stay!” (2018) -KA. Director: Cooper Vacheron. Cast: Magi Calcagne and Avery Monsen. DP: Roger JC Lee. Producer: Lauren Opatowski.
