*Online Premiere* A reclusive Zamboni driver grapples with his freedom when his work shift is suddenly cancelled. Mei Liu directs “Happy Ending,” an intimate, melancholic picture of a man who moves through the world uncomfortably, preferring the company of ice over people. After finding a discarded coupon to an underground massage parlor, the man decides to give it a try, and the ensuing encounter reveals and expands. It’s a lovely film, nearly wordless, a portrait of solitude which captures rich atmosphere with evocative visuals and poignant performances. -KA.
