After being emasculated in front of his wife and friends at a dinner party, a man confronts an unwelcome neighbor about peeing on his fence. Paul Villenave & Dylan Posgate direct “Nice,” a dramedy exploring a backyard predicament with sociopolitical undertones. Anthony and Liz get ready to host friends for dinner. The couple, also expecting a baby, live across a park filled with houseless neighbors living in tents. All seems amicable, but, when the dinner group notices one of the park fellas pissing on the fence, Anthony finds himself in a tricky situation on whether he should pursue confrontation. It’s all a bit murky, and Liz, while understanding, can’t help but feel a bit irked by the situation. Villenave and Posgate direct a discomforting humor, finding idiosyncrasies in evasive back-and-forths and unspoken feelings. -JM. Directors: Paul Villenave & Dylan Posgate. Cast: Mark Rendall, Isabella Shibuta, Jemilla Elleen Mills-Smith, Ben Beauchemin, Brandon Zakkai. Producer: Yeimy Daza. DP: Julian Lomaga. Editor: Jacob Thompson.
