An anxious teen responds to a Craigslist ad and strikes an unexpected connection with a stranger behind a sheet. “Personals,” directed by Sasha Argirov, is an engrossing drama that details a would-be sexual encounter and the corresponding awkwardness and vulnerability. The nervous young man enters a hotel suite to find a dim shadow ducked away in a corner. The visitor has been instructed not to speak but he can’t help filling the air with self conscious chit-chat, which unsettles the man behind the sheet. The film creates tension from its interplay of intimacy and anonymity, and its antsy search for fulfillment or experience. -KA. Writer, director: Sasha Argirov. Starring: Riley Davis and Dimitri Vantis. DP: Blake Davey. Editor: Aynsley Baldwin. Producer(s): Matt Drake, Mike Johnston, Andy Alvarez.
