Total Transportation
Shot on Tape • Short Films, 30-Aug-2023
Wading through a sea of memories, a young real estate agent attempts to do her job. “Total Transportation,” directed by Boothe Carlson, is an experimental oddity where cryptic anecdotes disrupt a recorded apartment tour. As our tour begins, it becomes apparent that we’ll be seeing more into the agent’s mind than her goal of a sale. Come every street corner and cemetery, portals of old memories flood in, enlivening not only past moments of the agent’s life but also possibly the spirits that made up the space before. With a lo-fi presentation, Carlson’s film engages both through a charming performance by its frantic agent and through a stimulating supercut of analog video and sound. -Jinho Myung. Director: Boothe Carlson. Sound Mixed by: Ryan Power. Cast: April Heliotis, Alice Tilley, Loren Jackson, Cherry Nin, Sage Elder, and Sabrina Kissack.
