The Curtains Glow At Night
Drama, Short Films, 18-Dec-2025
When a college student comes home for break, they find a ghost in their childhood bedroom. Skye Schoenhoef directs “The Curtains Glow at Night,” a moody observation of one’s reflection on their youth and past self. Wren returns home for the break, catches up with an old friend, and spends time with their parents, all while trying to complete a self-portrait assignment. The overly-reminiscing mother and father, along with relics from childhood, make the homecoming more irritating than nostalgic. In moments in-between, Wren can’t help but to notice a small child watching from afar. A color palette of rich, 16mm daylight paints the picture as Schoenhoeft focuses on feeling, presenting an atmosphere that shifts between magical ambiguity and familiar reality. -JM.
