His dad is dying, but a young man has a mouse to catch. Grayson Goga directs “Field Mouse,” a heavy drama where a 20-something wades through impending grief in a cold, upstate New York town. In his dimly-lit basement apartment, Leonard fiddles between his guitar and French horn. He sips liquor, practices German, and quietly checks out while his sister shares an update on their father’s condition. Taking their dad off of life support is a hard pill to swallow and Leonard, instead, entertains his own death. He ends up back at his local bar, drowning out the noise with drinks, Roger Miller needle drops, and Clara, an unexpected romantic interest. At a runtime just shy of thirty minutes, we watch Leonard and Clara search for a spark in this melancholic tone poem. -JM. Director: Grayson Goga.
