A mysterious business woman hits the streets with somewhere to be. “A Business Call!,” directed by Cara Griffin, is an experimental satire following a work-crazed character oblivious to life outside of her job. The blonde woman wears a heather grey skirt suit and a pair of dark, tinted sunglasses. She moves through the city NPC-like and with confidence. While there’s work call jargon about "insufficient supply chain extravaganzas” and “real-time monitoring systems," it's tricky to decipher what her job actually entails. The boundaries of her roaming expand—the sight of a friend group on the beach calls to her, as does small-talk with a stranger and former businesswoman herself. Griffin taps into a timeless, dystopian feeling in a retro-futuristic world with 16mm textures and synthesizer sounds. -JM. Director: Cara Griffin. Cast: Cecilie Mengel.
