Brad Howe: Live At The Legion

Comedy, 03-Oct-2024
Discussing everything from lime beers to The Doobie Brothers concerts, Brad Howe takes his comedic stylings home to his favorite watering hole, The Legion. An inspired riff on the stand-up comedy special, “Brad Howe: Live at the Legion” is light on jokes and heavy on character building. It’s Saturday night in a small Massachusetts town — a Little League coach with a Regis Philbin impression takes the stage to discuss his thoughts on a range of subjects. His top three Playboy playmates of all time, for instance, or his general distaste for art. To set the mood, Brad introduces a sampling of people in the room, like Long Legged Lorraine who tends a VIP bar for a group of Brad's old friends, the Satin Jacket Quartet; running the cameras are Brad’s assistant Little League coaches; a Catholic priest (Father Craig) is in attendance to keep everyone blessed. From stage, Brad auditions to be a LL Bean turtleneck model, explains how to bring fun to the lawn seats at classic rock concerts, and references pencil diving on numerous occasions. But what’s really on his mind is his ex-wife Sheila and the struggles of being single. Overflowing with hilarious detail, the forty-five minute special builds a world where you can pay $100 to wear Brad’s high school ring for 10 seconds, or browse his first Playboy, sustaining its vivid New England tableaus on and off the stage. -KA.
