Jeffrey, Bad Day
An extremely antisocial young man reluctantly accompanies his mourning friend to the beach. “Jeffrey, Bad Day,” directed by Theo Matza, is a dark comedy shot on 16mm film featuring a tottering trio of offbeat men. Jeffrey starts his day on edge. His mother asks about his plans, already pressing too many buttons. Jeffrey doesn’t like to leave the house, but his good pal Demo needs emotional support to spread his deceased brother’s ashes. When they arrive at the beach, the day takes a turn and Jeffrey loses it. Matza, as seen in the previously featured “Tate’s Parade,” plays with peculiar characters, comically portraying agoraphobic environments and paranoid individuals. -JM. Director: Theo Matza.
