High school senior Nancy Fisher finds herself at the center of a baseless rumor as she struggles with expectations of the future. Directed by Justin Zuckerman, "A Future of Success," is a teen comedy about young adult pressures and having different priorities than parents and peers. While Nancy is more interested in gardening, it's impossible to escape everyone else's obsession with higher education ("do you really think Harvard is going to accept someone who spends all day rolling in the dirt?"). Struggling to come to terms with her college plans, Nancy is also forced to deflect a dirty rumor from a narcissistic rich kid who claims they hooked up. Zuckerman takes a turn here from his previous short, "Christian's First Cigarette," an experimental mini-DV oddity following a man chain-smoking cigarettes. In the new one, he injects a bit of narrative, but doesn't lose his sense of experimentation and off-kilter tone of voice.
Written and directed by Justin Zuckerman. Starring Isabella Werber, Charles Vancini, and Lauren Olster. Produced by Ryan Martin Brown, Paula Andrea Gonzalez-Nasser, and Hunter Truman. Director of Photography: Victor Ingles.
