A strange and hostile girl is visited by universal love in its personified form. Ava Hase directs “A Person Named Universal Love,” a dark comedy that looks at a young woman’s relationship with a persistent, unconditionally loving being. Universal Love, played by Oscar Falcon, comes knocking at Ava’s door one afternoon. Despite pouring his heart out with open arms, as he seems to have done relentlessly for a while now, Ava tells him to get lost. After making him do some humiliating tasks before banishing him yet again, Universal Love immediately amps himself up for another knock at Ava’s door. A simple and wholesome sketch, the film incites some thought on relationships between an individual and themself as dictated by the self-hating or self-loving feelings felt in a day. -Jinho Myung. Writer, director: Ava Hase. Cast: Oscar Falcon, Ava Hase. DP: Ian S. Peterson. Editor: Ava Hase.
