Documentary, Short Films, 01-Jun-2022
On a summer day in Brooklyn, an indie filmmaker juggles several different projects while keeping up with family and friends. Daniel Luis Ennab directs “A Summer Day in Brooklyn,” a visual journal that follows the spontaneous actions of a film editor and cinema obsessive. On a Saturday, Ennab (who goes by Danny here), wakes up and surveys the day ahead of him. Should he load up the documentary he’s currently cutting, or the wedding video? Or get into something outside of the editing timeline? He decides to wander around a bit - goes to visit his friend on the set of a music video filming at a local skate park. Then moseys over to help an actor friend record an audition tape (a frustrating experience due to stereotypical character tropes). Meanwhile, Danny’s family - his parents and younger siblings - go about their lives at home, doing laundry, watering plants, watching TV’s, working on computers, etc. Ennab’s film has the feeling of an exercise, one that imbues mundanity with tone and rhythm, that freshly captures a free-spirited lifestyle and personality, and leaves it at that. -KA. Directed, edited, and produced by Daniel Luis Ennab. Cast Daniel Luis Ennab, David Michael Alexander, Malik Sonny Watts, Stalin Llivichuzcha, Xavi Portillo, Rachelle Vinberg, Victoria Sofia Ennab, Cynthia Fernandez Ennab, Percy Vincent Ennab Jr, Percy Luis Ennab Sr, Nicholas Matthews, Patrick Merveille, Godfred Sedano.
