Drama, Short Films, 29-Nov-2022
On a duck hunting trip, two friends head to the lake. Auden Lincoln-Vogel directs “Bill and Joe Go Duck Hunting,” a quietly assured, gently funny, portrait of man and nature. An old, faded friendship centers the character study: Joe is the chatty one to Bill’s stoic reserve; Joe shows up in street clothes while Bill wears head-to-toe hunting attire. In his truck on the way to the lake, the “conversation” touches on the usual suspects: hunting equipment, the football season, country music. But as the deadpan exchanges move along, the film begins to slowly fade into the unknown following an almost dream-like haze. In effect, it’s a film hidden within another film, as camouflaged as Bill’s get-up. -KA. Director: Auden Lincoln-Vogel. Starring Alex Denison, Ben Dulavitch. Cinematography: Philip Rabalais. Assistant Camera: Julianna Villarosa. Sound Technician: Michael Wawzenek. Grip: Hilary Nelson, Annelyse Gelman.
