Two best friends at a liberal arts school spend together a complicated evening of unrequited crushes and too much cocaine. “Blacklisted,” directed by Jo Steinhart is a sharp-edged comedy about queer women navigating volatile college relationships. (“Would you say you’ve fucked every dyke at this school?”) Vivienne prods Margot to ditch school work (reading “Lolita”) to go to a lingerie party, in the hopes of hooking up with the one girl she hasn’t yet been with. The night becomes a series of awkward encounters and fuckboi accusations, leading to the reveal of the meaning of the titular blacklist. Though it’s largely carried out with a deadpan cynicism and edgy wit, there are moments of effervescent flash — a slo-mo dance scene, or a triumphant tell off (to the only man in the film). Katie Duke and Scout Pertofsky are perfect as the acerbic duo with a real connection underneath it all, them against the world.
