A couple tries to make a sex tape but she has a question and he doesn’t know the answer. “Boobies,” directed by Emma Chevalier, dedicates five minutes to a pair of breasts and a couple’s discussion of love, desire and genetic predispositions. A young man positions his girlfriend in front of the camera, and she proceeds to remove her bra. The scene is set, she waits, but a momentary silence leads to dialogue. What begins as a question of whether or not “they’re too big” unravels into a hypothetical scenario of a cancer diagnosis, a missing boob, and the man’s defense of his desire, or lack thereof. The back-and-forth stirs, dwindles, and both are left hurt, no longer in the mood. Her mannerisms and breasts occupy the screen for the film’s entirety as a single take. Nonetheless, our attention remains on the exchange as each partner’s perspective comes into focus. -JM. Director: Emma Chevalier: Cast: Emma Chevalier and Rock Brenner.
