Documentary, Short Films, 24-Oct-2019
An artist works toward his future during a transitional period in his life. Kelly Turner directs “Bubblegum,” a vérité documentary following an aspiring fashion designer over the course of a couple days, dealing with work, friendships, and personal dramas. It’s an effortlessly authentic look at a young man and his underground orbit of performers trying to make a world for themselves. Light on exposition, it paints a rich picture just by being there, capturing underseen spaces and personalities in their natural environment, vulnerable and unflattering at times, but all the more truthful for being so. Personal filmmaking at its most real and unguarded. Director, Editor: Kelly Turner. Featuring: Matt Wolf, Nick Perkins. Camera: Zach Sayles, Kelly Turner. Original Score, Additional Camera: Anthony Cedrone.
