Hilton visits L.A. and loses his mind. “enjoy your stay!” directed by Cooper Vacheron, is a vibrant character study, a mix of the naturalistic and the unexplainable, that hooks you into the world of young professional creatives living firmly in the now. He's the host of his own show — “The Hilton Dresden Show” — a slick web series filled with pop culture jokes and celebrity interviews. But something feels off from the moment he arrives in L.A. to shoot a new episode with his directing partner (a wonderfully blunt performance by Allie Wittner, “you were a little off, but I think we were all a little off”). Though a recent red-carpet interview with Timothee Chalamet and Armie Hammer comes back with massively distorted audio, that’s not all he’s concerned about — there’s also something strange happening involving his Airbnb house, which may or may not be only in his head. Vacheron was previously featured with his 2016 short, “Psychopomp” (co-directed with Loni Paone), another tonal tightrope between the familiar and the strange. Both films are utterly convincing portrayals of off-kilter worlds and leave you wanting more.
Directed by Cooper Vacheron. Written by Hilton Dresden, Cooper Vacheron & Allie Wittner. Produced by Peter Ferris Rosati. DP: Roger JC Lee. Composer Jacob Rosati.
