A young woman tries to navigate issues of intimacy in a unique relationship after an unsettling incident. “F*ck Bunny,” directed by Wesley Wingo, is a layered tale of concealment and discontent about two people in animal costumes engaged in anonymous role play. A women in a bunny suit meets up with a man in a dog costume for a series of dalliances at a cheap motel, but underneath the surface is a nagging feeling that something’s wrong. What could easily register as a frivolous, one-note sight gag becomes something much deeper and revealing as we come to know the woman under the suit. Playing the bunny, Francesca Anderson carries the film with raw vulnerability and pleading eyes. Showing a nice sense of restraint and openness, Wingo pulls together the surreal with the sincere, brought home with great images from D.P. José Andrés Cardona. “F*ck Bunny,” was produced by Wingo, Cardona and Hunt Beaty, for a series of Six Short Films, the last of which, “Sundays,” we screened last month.
