A random hookup leads to an ambush interview by a documentary crew. “Humans of My Bed,” directed by Sam Permar, is an edgy, darkly funny mockumentary exploring boundaries of sexual liberation and internalized homophobia. At a friend’s birthday party, Kip and Neel, meet, hit it off, and have sex in a bedroom. That’s when a film crew storms in to score a post coital interview about how it went, and Neel’s general sexual experiences with men. It’s uncomfortable both because of the awkward denial Neel offers of his sexuality, and because of the clearly crossed line of privacy. Presented as a satire on the NYC photoseries “Humans Of New York,” Permar’s short (which is part of a series; all eps here) brings up interesting points of sexuality and exploitation, and normal lives being offered as content to the general public, a common occurrence in our current media landscape. Director, Writer, Producer, Editor: Sam Permar. Director of Photography: Michael Tanner Kirshner. Cast: Karthik Raj, Sam Permar, Michael Tanner Kirshner, Athena Boutari, Hadley Phares, Caroline Turner, Meena Knowles, Anna Roberts.
