Drama, Music, 19-Oct-2023
A surreal moment out of time is shared between two siblings. David Findlay directs the music video for “Leaning into your Palms,” a song by pro-skater and musician Austyn Gillette. We meet the siblings, brother played by Gilette himself and sister played by Agathe Rousselle, recently from “Titane,” as they recollect memories from childhood that are wired together by images of their mother. In these recollections, the two find themself reliving certain moments, but now sharing a new perspective. Like in his short film we featured in 2022, “Lay Me by the Shore,” Findlay demonstrates an intrinsic sense of visual storytelling using paced zoom and tracking shots. The intimate portrait leans into heavy-heartedness musically tethered by Gillette's artful song. -JM. Written & Directed by David Findlay. Produced by Rebecca Steel, Kind Stranger Productions. Director of Photography: Jeremy Cox Production. Designer: Brendan Megannety. Editor: Emma Backman. Movement Coach: Amy J. Gardner. Sound Designer: Mitchell Allen. Cast: Rebecca Steele, Lincoln Cann, Aralyn Walker, Ben Stephenson, Suge Blanco, and Cedric Cox.
