As an online roleplaying game approaches its final days, two teens embark on a cross-country trip to meet each other in real life. “Love192,” directed by Haydon Mayer, is a tender romance and sign-of-times saga that captures and transcends the digital realm. Jude goes by the username “M4yJud3July” in a virtual reality world where he spends most of his time chatting with “xXToasty,” aka Tyler. As the VR environment approaches a date of permanent closure, Jude stays around to absorb the final hours, hoping to find Tyler signed on as well. But Tyler, now in college, struggles with his identity and desires. As the game’s users begin to clear out and the VR world begins to break down, the two look for ways to say goodbye and move on. A bittersweet snapshot that takes place largely in Second Life, Mayer’s film is about connection and longing in the modern world. -KA. Director: Haydon Mayer. Cast: Shai Chase, Rob Luedtke. DP: Karson Kane. Producers: Ryan Dombrowski, Audrey Mainville, Kaity Holmes, Spencer Milligan. Production Designer: Grace Farkas Editor: Haydon Mayer. Composer: Ian Gram.
