An elf and a deadbeat try to raise ten million dollars to pay their rent. Hamilton O’Toole directs “Lucky and Charlie in the Hole With Lots of Money,” a bizarre animated film rendered in the style of early Y2K console graphics that follows a roommate duo in an attempt to confront their landlord. Lucky and Charlie can’t make rent. From galactic wormholes to digital waste meadows, they scavenge for dollars and gather amulets, some tangible and some not, all valuable. As they confront their landlord, a boiling, boss-battle tension begins to rise. O’Toole’s charmingly lo-fi animations in the 8-bit RPG dimension give fresh life to an evergreen struggle of making rent and battling greed. -JM. Director: Hamilton O'Toole. Cast: Libby Jasper, Hamilton O'Toole, Brendan Daly. Editor: Hamilton O'Toole.
