Amid the high anxiety of post-9/11 NYC, a struggling post-production house is hired to make edits to a hit TV show: removing a shot of the twin towers during “The Sopranos” opening credits. Dustin Waldman directs “Never Fuggedaboutit,” a period piece that uniquely captures post 9/11 tension through a man’s conflict as a video editor. The task doesn’t seem to sit right with Frank, but executives make it clear the changes need to be made. Refusing to make the changes, and rebelling in his own way, he loses his job. An assistant editor, Mike, gets called to take on the task, ultimately facing the same internal challenges. Waldman manages to refresh the feelings and tensions of the time, offering a portal into the aftermath of a cataclysmic world event framed with unlikely comedic undertones. -Jinho Myung. Del Arco Vacío
A man recounts the story of a local legend as he travels to the jungle to make peace with his life. “Del Arco Vacío,” by director Micah Van Hove, is a hybrid concoction, something like a joyous eulogy delivered via impromptu walking tour of a small town in Peru. The story of Alex Carlo Delgado is...
