A man tries to explain why he likes looking at power lines. In Jack Galvin’s “Power Lines,” men return back to boyhood with a yearning for elementary-era antics. Jack and Elizabeth take a stroll during sunset and something catches Jack’s eyes, putting him into a trance. To Jack, the electrical towers stand as something greater than just pieces of infrastructure. Catalyzed into a coming-of-age film daydream, Jack relishes his fantasy of freely roaming suburbia with a youthful POV alongside a new partner in crime. They build forts, consume endless “Nerds Rope” candies, and sneak their way around woodsy outposts. We’ve seen Galvin in this comedic element before, channeling a slacker persona, aloof but charming, as seen also in his previous film, “NADIR: A documentary about surfing in Newport, Rhode Island.” -JM.
