Drama, Short Films, 28-May-2025
In the relentless pursuit of productivity, a young woman undergoes a transformation that jeopardizes her humanity. Isabella Ivoš’s “Robotica” is a lowkey sci-fi that grapples with the demands of a highly competitive metropolitan space. Jeanne gets summoned into the office where she’s told over a computer call that her efficiency has been subpar — a bonus isn’t going to happen. The thought of that takes a toll and dejects Jeanne from any chance of easing up at home. At a party, networking with peers is more apparent than genuine human connection. The film operates with a subdued sense of drama, observing Jeanne in her gradual disassociation from the mundane. Claire Banse’s performance of withdrawn behavior grounds the film in an everyday context. -JM. Director/Writer: Isabella Ivoš. Cast: Claire Banse. DP: Bart Cortright. Producer: Jessica DiMento. Executive Producer: Conor Schlosser. Production Company: Analoga. Editor: Michael Reese. Sound Design: Charlie Panek. Color: Orlando Wimberley.
