Four friends parked in a car do a ceremony in the middle of the woods. It goes badly. Made by the preeminent Brooklyn comedy group, Simple Town, “Scary Car” is lo-fi horror comedy at its finest, a brilliantly executed account of an unexplainable occurrence. After a passionate conversation about UAP’s, third eyes and inter-dimensional entities (which half the car believes in), the group moves onto a crystal ceremony aimed at removing psychic blindfolds. When the ritual ends, the driver, Felipe leaves the car to pee (or poop), and that’s when things get really strange. We first featured Simple Town in 2019 with “Town Meeting,” and coming soon from the group is a NoBudge Original film, going live later this year or early next. -KA. A film by Simple Town. Directed by Ian Faria. Cast: Will Niedmann, Caro Yost, Felipe Di Poi, Sam Lanier, Rob Polidoro, Will Freudenheim. Produced by Sarah Wilson. Edited by Caro Yost. Score by Kyle Rodriguez. Sound Mix by Nat Jenkins.
