A newly-turned, teenage vampire struggles to keep her violent nature a secret from her overbearing mother. Lida Everhart directs “Something’s Wrong With Kit,” a slow burn coming-of-age drenched in gloom and grim, momentarily bursting with blood red. With heavy eyes and pale skin, Kit doesn’t seem like herself. During school, she stares at the classroom pet—a large, white rabbit named Chester. Later, Kit and her best friend Maria spend some time together while Kit’s mother makes it loud and clear she doesn’t like anyone getting between them. Paige Simunovich brings a nuance to her depressive high school character; her cold deliveries feel right for the wintery whites and blues of the town. And when the bloodsucking occurs, Everhart enacts it carefully and sparingly. -JM. Director: Lida Everhart. Cast: Paige Simunovich, Amory Wallace, Gabrielle Bodet. Director of Photography: Milani Gosman. Editor: Beau Williams. Producers: Alexa Back, Aris Liang. Unit Production Manager: Erin Logan.
